Louise Tunzi, Head Teacher
AM Staffing Coordinator
My name is Miss Louise, and I am the head teacher in the infant room. I have been working at C Street since December of 1992. I have been working with the infant program the entire time!
Babies and toddlers are my favorite age because it’s fun to see how ambitious they are about exploring their world. All of these years spent with babies has taught me a lot about them and their needs. We have learned how to meet the babies individual needs before they even realize they want or need anything!
I also have six children of my own that I raised, so I think that I have a pretty good idea of how to care for infants?!?
There are a lot of components that make a high quality infant program. I think that the three most important components are: a good relationship with the parents, a caring and loving environment for the children, and, of course, safety in the classroom.
Several of the teachers, including me, have taken many different training courses to receive our Child Development Accreditation. You’ll be glad to know that we received it!
I look forward to establishing a good relationship with you. Please feel free to express any comments or concerns that you might have.

Hi Everyone!
I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to work with you, your infant, and be in the infant classroom here at C Street! I would really like to tell you about myself so you can get to know me as a person and as a teacher.
I love the field of early childhood education! In January of 2005, I assisted in the birth of a baby with a midwife and Doula. That baby’s birth changed me forever, impacting the way I viewed childbirth and postpartum care, both as a woman, and as a person. The process also inspired me to redirect my energy toward becoming a Doula myself so that I could advocate for other women and their partners during labour and postpartum care. I took a 3 week maternity nursing course in London at Reading University’s MNT Training program and classes at Natural Recourses in San Francisco, CA. I am happy to report that I am a certified Doula! Also, I have taught infant care classes from New York City to San Francisco! Infant care is really where my heart is and I feel my knowledge and love for this age group can benefit this program tremendously.
My philosophy about learning is that I believe that children are active learners who are naturally curious about the world around them. They learn best through play, when they are actively engaged with materials, ideas and people. Children learn at different paces and in different ways. I believe strongly that early childhood education must encompass the development of the whole child: socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. I feel each child should be respected and loved for the uniqueness they bring to their community. Children should come away from their experience with confidence, having developed a love for learning, respecting the many differences in others, and excited for the next stage of their life!
Again, I am so excited to be a part of the infant program and for the opportunity to get to know each and everyone one of you!
